Full Fretboard Lick

With the octave transfer safely under your fingers, it’s time to test your knowledge. Here is a simple lick that can be placed at your choice of octave locations to form a full fretboard lick. With this lick take note of the different tuning between the 2nd and 3rd strings. Because these strings are tuned to a third interval instead of a fourth interval (like all the other strings), the fingering for the lick changes when played on these two strings.

Memorize this lick and then play it forwards, backwards, starting on different strings and playing the notes of the basic lick in different orders.
