Once you have a few reference points and octave shapes memorized, it’s time to see how they work with a simple lick. We’ll try a trill at each octave to show how to transfer a lick all over the neck. Try the trills slowly and focus on leaping to the correct octave.

Can you hear the same lick being played in different octaves all over the neck? This simple lick allows you to hear the same notes being played over and over in order to insure your accuracy in leaping from octave to octave.
